The Leeds office is part of a network of regional design hubs, delivering environmentally aware, cost-efficient building services solutions.
As a Senior Electrical Engineer you will play a key role in delivering high-quality electrical engineering design and consultancy services. You will work across the full project lifecycle from concept through to completion, lead on technical aspects, mentor junior staff, engage with clients, and help raise standards of technical excellence within the team. This role demands someone with solid experience in building services electrical design, strong commercial and sustainability awareness, along with sharp communication skills both internal and external.

Key Responsibilities- Lead and manage the electrical engineering aspects of projects from inception through to completion.
- Act as Project Leader on selected projects, coordinating multidisciplinary teams and ensuring that electrical design meets client expectations, regulatory requirements and internal technical standards.
- Produce, review and deliver electrical drawings, specifications, calculations, load schedules, lighting designs, power distribution, LV/HV systems (where applicable), embedded generation/renewables integration.
- Ensure compliance with British & European standards, Building Regulations, CIBSE guidelines, BREEAM, HTMs (where relevant) and internal standards.
- Mentor, guide and develop junior electrical engineers and technicians; review their work and support their progression.
- Manage client liaison: attend client meetings, present designs, respond to queries, build strong relationships.
- Keep up with technological advancements, sustainability practices, low-carbon design and renewable energy systems.
- Ensure that projects are delivered on time, within budget, to the required quality and safety standards.
- Collaborate with other teams and regional offices to achieve coordinated building services design.
- Occasional site visits / inspections to ensure designs are implemented correctly during construction / commissioning.
Essential:
- Degree (or equivalent) in Electrical Engineering, Building Services Engineering, or related field.
- Extensive experience in building services electrical design.
- Demonstrable experience in preparing electrical designs, specifications, calculations, drawings.
- Good understanding of LV/HV electrical systems and embedded generation / renewable technologies.
- Competency with relevant software such as Microsoft Office, Revit, Amtech, Dialux / Relux or equivalent lighting/design tools.
- Strong knowledge of UK and European building / electrical design standards, building regulations, relevant statutory requirements.
- Excellent communication skills (written, verbal), with experience in client facing roles.
Desirable:
- Working towards or holding Chartered / Incorporated status with a professional body (CIBSE, IET etc.).
- Experience in healthcare sector (HTM’s), zero / low carbon buildings, BREEAM, Passivhaus or similar sustainability certifications.
- Exposure to embedded generation, renewable technologies, energy modelling.
- Some experience of project management (budgeting, scheduling, resource allocation).
- Familiarity with contract documentation, procurement, working with external consultants.
- Highly organised, able to manage multiple projects/priorities under tight deadlines.
- Attention to detail and commitment to quality in design.
- Analytical and problem-solving mindset.
- Strong team player, but able to work independently as well.
- Initiative and continuous improvement focus.
- Flexibility/adaptability: willingness to travel to sites, occasional out-of-office work.
