Our Client is an innovative building services consultancy delivering high-performance mechanical, electrical and public health (MEP) design solutions. With a Leeds office now established and enjoying their second year, the newly appointed MEP Regional Director is keen to build on recent success and create one of the leading Mechanical and Electrical Design Teams in the Yorkshire region. The business is keen to attract 2 x Senior MEP Design Engineers – 1 Mechanical bias and 1 Electrical bias. Both roles will involve delivering high-quality mechanical, electrical and public health engineering designs across a varied portfolio of projects, while supporting project coordination, mentoring junior staff, and contributing to a collaborative, multi-disciplinary team. This position is ideal for a well-rounded building services engineer looking to take increased technical and project responsibility within a respected UK consultancy.
Key Responsibilities
- MEP Design & Technical Delivery
- Deliver coordinated MEP designs from concept through to construction and handover
- Prepare and review calculations, drawings, specifications, reports, and schedules
- Ensure compliance with current UK legislation, standards, and best practice
- Coordinate designs with internal disciplines and external consultants
- Contribute to sustainable, energy-efficient, and low-carbon design solutions
- Project Delivery
- Act as the MEP lead on small to medium-sized projects and support larger schemes
- Manage personal workload to meet project programmes and fee targets
- Attend design team meetings, client meetings, and site inspections
- Support and mentor Graduate and Engineer-level staff
- Review technical outputs and provide guidance to junior team members
- Contribute to continuous improvement and knowledge sharing within the team
- Client & Stakeholder Engagement
- Liaise effectively with clients, architects, contractors, and other stakeholders
- Build and maintain positive working relationships across project teams
Skills & Experience
- Degree-qualified (or equivalent) in Building Services, Mechanical, or Electrical Engineering
- Strong experience within an MEP/building services design environment
- Good all-round knowledge of mechanical and/or electrical building services systems
- Understanding of UK building regulations and relevant British Standards
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a team
- Strong communication and organisational skills
- Working towards or holding professional registration (IEng or CEng – CIBSE, IET, or equivalent)
- Experience across sectors such as commercial, residential, healthcare, education, or mixed-use
- Awareness of sustainability frameworks and low‑carbon design approaches
