Our Client is a leading consultancy specialising in energy management, technical engineering solutions, and project delivery. The MEP Design Team is keen to recruit an experienced Electrical Building Services Design Engineer to deliver a wide range of schemes within the retail sector, from supermarkets and shops to large scale distribution centres and commercial offices. The successful candidate will be seasoned in the design and project management of electrical building services, capable of providing a high-quality client facing approach.
Key Responsibilities- Design and develop electrical systems including lighting, power distribution, emergency systems, fire alarm systems, and renewables.
- Perform electrical load calculations, cable sizing, circuit protection, and voltage drop assessments.
- Prepare detailed drawings, schematics, and specifications.
- Support energy modelling and low-carbon technology integration.
- Collaborate with mechanical and energy professionals for holistic design coordination.
- Conduct site surveys, inspections, and audits as needed.
- Liaise with clients, contractors, and other consultants throughout the project lifecycle.
- Ensure compliance with relevant standards (e.g. BS7671, IEC standards, Building Regulations, CIBSE).
- Assist in preparing documentation for planning and regulatory approvals.
- Stay up to date with industry trends, technologies, and sustainability practices.
- Minimum HNC in Electrical Engineering or related field.
- Proficiency in AutoCAD and/or Revit; knowledge of Amtech, Dialux/Relux, and similar design tools.
- Understanding of UK building regulations and electrical design codes.
- Experience working on energy efficiency or sustainability-focused projects.
- Strong communication and teamwork skills.
- Ability to manage time effectively and work across multiple projects.
