They are looking for a Lead Electrical Design Engineer to help spearhead the next phase of growth. As the Lead Electrical Design Engineer you will play a critical leadership role within integrated mechanical, electrical, and building services design functions. Reporting directly to the MEP Design Manager, you'll take full responsibility for the design and delivery of electrical systems across complex projects — setting design direction, mentoring junior engineers, and driving innovation in low carbon technologies. This position requires an experienced and confident Engineer who can combine deep technical knowledge with strong commercial awareness. You’ll bring strategic thinking to the table, shape early stage concepts, and ensure robust, regulation-compliant systems are delivered to the highest standards.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead the end-to-end electrical design process from feasibility to detailed execution, across high profile HVAC and refrigeration projects.
  • Provide senior-level technical guidance and mentoring to intermediate and junior engineers.
  • Collaborate with the estimating and sales team to review enquiries and develop competitive, compliant concept solutions.
  • Oversee site surveys and evaluate existing systems, identifying integration opportunities and retrofit solutions.
  • Champion best practices in energy-efficient design — including power load calculations, energy modelling, and controls integration.
  • Review and approve all electrical engineering documentation, from schematics to commissioning plans, ensuring clarity and compliance.
  • Act as technical authority in client meetings, representing the company with confidence and offering clear solutions to complex design challenges.
  • Liaise closely with the Projects Team during design handover, providing technical assurance throughout the build phase.
  • Lead post-project reviews to drive continuous improvement, knowledge sharing, and innovation across the team.

What You Bring:

  • Extensive experience in electrical design within building services, ideally in refrigeration or HVAC.
  • Track record of managing or leading multi-disciplinary design teams.
  • Degree qualified in Electrical Engineering or related discipline.
  • Strong knowledge of BS7671:2018 + A2 and other relevant standards and regulations.
  • Proficient in software such as AutoCAD, Amtech, Dialux, Trimble.
  • Effective communicator, both technically and commercially, with clients and colleagues alike.
  • Full UK driving licence for travel to client sites.
