Our Client is arguably the leading M&E Design & Build Contractor in the Yorkshire region. The appointment of a Sustainability Manager will help transform how projects are delivered and further align live projects with customer expectations and targets. The Sustainability Manager will lead initiatives to improve building performance and drive decarbonisation across client estates. Working within an MEP contracting environment, this role bridges design, delivery, and operational performance, ensuring projects not only meet compliance but deliver measurable energy savings and sustainability outcomes for key clients.
Key Responsibilities- Champion decarbonisation strategies for clientâowned and operated buildings, aligning with Net Zero and ESG commitments.
- Collaborate with the Building Performance Division to analyse operational data, identify inefficiencies, and implement retrofit solutions.
- Develop and deliver energy optimisation plans for both newâbuild and existing assets, integrating technologies such as ASHP, WSHP, CHP, PV, and battery storage.
- Lead energy audits and building performance assessments, providing actionable insights to reduce carbon emissions and operational costs.
- Produce detailed energy performance reports (SCOP, EPC, Part L compliance) and present findings to clients and internal stakeholders.
- Advise on lowâcarbon technologies and innovative solutions, ensuring practical integration within MEP systems during design and installation.
- Support tendering and bid processes by providing sustainability credentials and energy modelling input.
- Engage with clients and supply chain partners to promote sustainable practices and value engineering opportunities.
- Ensure compliance with Building Safety Act and sustainabilityârelated legislation throughout design and construction phases.
- Drive internal sustainability culture, training teams on best practices and emerging technologies.
- Strong understanding of MEP systems integration and their impact on energy performance.
- Experience with energy modelling tools (e.g., IES, TAS) and interpreting results for practical implementation.
- Knowledge of UK building regulations, Part L, Net Zero frameworks, and decarbonisation strategies.
- Ability to balance commercial considerations with sustainability objectives in a contracting environment.
- Excellent stakeholder engagement and communication skills.
