University Arms is a 192-bedroom design-led Hotel situated in the heart of Cambridge, United Kingdom. Overlooking Parker's Piece is the Hotel's quintessentially British Restaurant and Bar, Parker's Tavern, Library Lounge, and beautiful wood-panelled Ballroom. Opened in 1834 as a Coaching Inn, University Arms is Cambridge's oldest Hotel. For 180 years the Hotel was added to, updated, and modernised in line with the age, however, it was the reopening in 2018 after a four-year £80m full renovation that really positioned the Hotel. It is now Cambridge's 'go to' destination, alluring visitors with the promise of a sense of modern luxury.
As Event Chef, you'll be working across a range of exciting events, from weddings to corporate functions. You'll be responsible for preparing and cooking high-quality dishes, ensuring exceptional presentation, and delivering a top-notch dining experience.
THE DUTIES- Cook meals according to the planned menu and timing.
- Ensure food presentation meets event standards.
- Prepare dishes in line with dietary restrictions and special requests.
- Oversee food plating and buffet setup (if applicable).
- Ensure all courses are served on time.
- Monitor food supply and replenish when needed.
- Ensure food is stored and served at the correct temperature.
- Maintain hygiene and cleanliness in the kitchen and serving areas.
- Work efficiently and accurately within a high-pressure, high-volume kitchen.
- Proven experience as a chef in an event, catering, or restaurant setting.
- Ability to work under pressure and manage time effectively.
- Strong knowledge of food safety and hygiene standards.
- Flexible availability, including evenings and weekends - this is not just Monday - Friday 9-5.
- A team player with a positive, can-do attitude.
