Parker Young is delighted to be supporting our FMCG client, boasting a portfolio of many household name brands, in the search for a high-impact Senior Category Manager. Are you someone who can blend deep category insight, exceptional storytelling and genuine commercial influence to drive growth across major UK retailers? Do you love the challenge of understanding shopper behaviour, interpreting data in all its complexity and turning it into compelling, actionable plans that unite teams and unlock sustainable category growth? Do you thrive on collaboration, pace and making insight count? This is an opportunity that will play to your strengths.
You’ll be the trusted advisor both internally and with key strategic retail partners, developing a deep understanding of each retailer’s strategy and shaping category plans that align with their priorities. From shaping category visions to delivering tailored recommendations, you’ll take ownership of range reviews, influence space, range and promotional strategy, and ensure activation plans truly land with impact. Your expertise will help craft long-term category growth initiatives that meet shopper needs while delivering wins for both the customer and the business.
This role will see you track performance, spot opportunities, and proactively recommend solutions across your product portfolio. You’ll champion the link between insight, commercial ambition and retailer execution — partnering closely with Sales, Finance, Shopper, RGM and cross-functional teams to ensure the category voice is clear, influential and embedded in the wider strategy. You’ll commission and manage research, translate insight into compelling selling stories and ensure the business shows up with one clear, confident message.
We’re looking for a highly numerate category professional with proven experience in FMCG Category Management or Customer Marketing within the major multiples. You’ll bring comfort with industry data platforms (Nielsen, Dunnhumby, EPOS), an ability to convert insight into commercial strategy, and the storytelling confidence to influence at all levels. You’ll be as comfortable setting the agenda as you are delivering the plan, and you’ll enjoy working both as a team player and an empowered self-starter. Experience within a blue-chip FMCG environment would be a strong advantage.
Above all, you’ll be someone who is hungry for growth, naturally collaborative and motivated by making a meaningful impact through clear, insight-led thinking. This is a business that values diversity, inclusion and belonging, and looks for those who bring curiosity, integrity and energy to their work. If you’re an experienced Category Manager ready to step up, or a Senior Category Manager looking for a bigger stage where you can truly influence the agenda, we’d love to speak with you.
