We are currently recruiting for an experienced Senior Interaction Designer to work a 12-month contract for our client on a 60% on-site hybrid basis out of either Leeds or Manchester.
As a Senior Interaction Designer you'll:
- Demonstrate best practice in user centred design, for digital and non-digital interactions
- Work effectively across multidisciplinary teams, adapting quickly to change
- Consider accessibility and inclusion, considering the impact of new technologies
- Collaborate with designers in other teams, give constructive feedback on others' work and contribute to developing design patterns
- Use research and analytics to understand user needs and identify opportunities
- Create prototypes using appropriate tools and methodologies, advising others on prototyping best practice
- Lead and coordinate design work, supporting other designers where necessary
- Actively support our client's design community
Requirements:
- Work out the best way to let users interact with services, in terms of both overall flow and at the level of individual design elements.
- Work with minimal support and can influence others.
- Work with service managers and programme directors to develop design concepts.
- Help set direction and embed good practice within teams, making important decisions based on research and understanding how this research impacts others.
Skills:
- Identify and compare the best processes or delivery methods to use, including measuring and evaluating outcomes.
- Listen to the needs of technical and business stakeholders, and interpret them in a way that is clear for both audiences.
- Apply a digital understanding to your work, being able to identify and implement solutions.
- Design systems for use across multiple services and can identify the simplest approach.
- Identify constraints and can communicate about these and work within them.
- Make decisions characterised by medium levels of risk and complexity and recommend decisions as risk and complexity increase.
- Bring people together to form a motivated team and help create the right environment for a team to work in.
- Experience in using a variety of methods of prototyping.
- Define strategies and policies, providing guidance to others on working in the strategic context.
Responsibilities:
We're looking for a Senior Interaction Designer who can demonstrate skills and experience in the following:
- User focus: Work with User Researchers to plan and develop research activities that help teams to better understand users.
- Evidence and context based design: Lead the design of solutions that are based on evidence and help identify any gaps in knowledge.
- Prototyping: Use a variety of prototyping tools and methodologies, advising others on prototyping best practice.
- Communication: Present your work and explain ideas in a way that people understand. Actively listen to other people's input and facilitate discussions.
- Accessibility: Promote the importance of inclusive design and how to design with accessibility in mind. You need to be familiar with the WCAG 2.1 guidelines and able to design to meet AA standards.
- Collaboration: Work in the open, engaging others in the design process. Offer advice on improving working practices, leading to better collaboration across teams.
