We are recruiting on behalf of a valued client for an experienced HSQE Auditor / Advisor to support operational teams across construction, maintenance, and project environments. This is an excellent opportunity for a proactive health and safety professional to join a growing business and play a key role in driving compliance, standards, and continuous improvement.
The Role
You will be responsible for carrying out HSQE audits across active construction sites, maintenance teams, completed works, and project management functions. The role will involve ensuring compliance with company procedures, producing detailed audit reports, supporting investigations, and promoting a strong safety culture across all levels of the business.
Key Responsibilities
- Conduct HSQE audits across construction sites, maintenance teams, and completed projects
- Prepare and submit audit reports with clear actions and recommendations
- Develop and maintain audit programmes, registers, and head office records
- Carry out COSHH assessments and maintain COSHH/equipment registers
- Deliver toolbox talks, inductions, and safety briefings
- Prepare RAMS, WPPs, site safety files, and other H&S documentation
- Investigate accidents, incidents, near misses, and close calls
- Advise teams on safe systems of work and risk control measures
- Liaise with clients and support external audits from accreditation bodies
- Assist operational teams and site management when required
Requirements
- Previous experience in an HSQE / HSEQ / SHEQ role within construction, rail, or engineering environments
- Good knowledge of operational railway procedures and standards desirable
- Strong report writing and administration skills
- Confident communicator with the ability to influence at all levels
- Strong IT skills including Microsoft Office packages
- Assertive, approachable, and able to promote a positive safety culture
