Are you an experienced BMS Project Engineer looking for a role where you can take ownership of exciting Building Management System projects from design through to successful completion? We are working with a leading BMS specialist based in Tunbridge Wells who are looking to strengthen their Projects Team with an experienced Project Engineer. This is a fantastic opportunity for someone with a strong technical background in BMS controls who enjoys managing projects, solving technical challenges, and delivering high-quality solutions for clients.
The Role
As a BMS Project Engineer, you will be responsible for managing the successful delivery of BMS projects, ensuring they are completed safely, on time, within budget, and to the highest technical standards. You will work closely with project managers, engineers, electricians, subcontractors, and clients to oversee all aspects of project delivery, from initial design through to commissioning and handover.
Key Responsibilities:
- Manage BMS projects throughout the full lifecycle, from design and installation through to commissioning and handover
- Review project requirements, specifications, and contractual obligations
- Produce and manage technical documentation including submittals, progress reports, commissioning reports, and O&M manuals
- Develop BMS control system designs, including:
- Control panel drawings
- Control valve selections
- Descriptions of operation
- DDC strategies
- Graphics requirements
- Coordinate with internal teams, electrical contractors, and subcontractors to ensure successful project delivery
- Carry out commissioning activities including:
- Field wiring checks
- Plant operational testing
- Control panel adjustments
- Functional testing
- Controller and software strategy checks
- Graphics verification
- Ensure all projects comply with company technical standards and health & safety requirements
- Prepare and review RAMS documentation
- Attend client and project coordination meetings
- Monitor progress, identify issues, and report any delays or risks
- Maintain accurate project records using digital project management systems
About You:
The ideal candidate will have experience working within the BMS industry and a strong understanding of controls systems, project delivery, and commissioning. You will be able to demonstrate:
- Experience delivering BMS/control system projects
- Strong technical knowledge of BMS systems and control strategies
- Ability to interpret technical drawings and specifications
- Excellent communication and organisation skills
- A structured approach to problem-solving
- Ability to manage multiple priorities while maintaining quality standards
Desirable Qualifications:
- BCIA Technical Certificate
- HNC/HND or relevant technical qualification
- Electrical qualifications/background
- BCIA Experienced Worker qualification
- CITB SSSTS
- Electrical safe isolation qualification
