The successful candidate will be responsible for the safe transportation of personnel and goods in accordance with transport regulations and road traffic law, reporting to senior transport management. Working a flexible Monday-Friday shift pattern (37 hours per week), providing transport support as required. A large proportion of the role involves coach driving (Category D licence essential), transporting passengers to and from training areas, exercises, and various operational locations including local and national sites.

Key responsibilities:

  • Safely transport passengers and materials using both coach and fleet vehicles in support of training activities
  • Conduct daily vehicle checks, including first-use and end-of-shift inspections
  • Refuel, clean, and ensure vehicles are maintained in a safe and roadworthy condition
  • Record and report all vehicle defects or faults using the appropriate reporting system
  • Communicate any operational issues or incidents to transport management promptly
  • Follow breakdown procedures and ensure passenger safety in the event of vehicle failure
  • Complete accident reporting procedures when required
  • Support light vehicle maintenance and minor repairs when not on driving duties
  • Assist with general workshop or depot duties as allocated by supervisory staff

Transport Duties Include:

  • Movement of training personnel between bases and exercise locations
  • Transport to training sites and educational or heritage visits across the UK
  • Supporting scheduled training and operational transport requirements
