The EHS Lead provides expertise in the development, implementation and management of effective Safety, Health, and Environment programs/systems. Routinely analyses hazardous situations and identifies alternative courses of action. Supports the business unit and oversees activities to ensure alignment with strategy, policies, and procedures. Manages and applies health and safety guidelines and processes, while ensuring compliance with government safety regulations and industry standards.
Responsibilities
- Support the Leadership of the Health, Safety and Environment Team, while managing the environmental, industrial, health and safety regulation compliance for the facility.
- Lead up and front Audits.
- Ensure appropriate corrective action is taken at the correct level where health, safety and environment hazards exist.
- Perform audits and safety inspections of work environments, processes and operations in compliance with government regulations and industry standards.
- Ensure all applicable registrations, permits and licenses are in place and current; ensure the disposal of hazardous materials as per regulations and Parker Meggitt policies and procedures in a timely manner.
- Collaborate with other business units to implement the Health, Safety and Environment programs, policies and services.
- Lead the safety committees, analyse hazardous situations, and identify alternative courses of action, while empowering members to achieve departmental safety goals and objectives.
- Develop and oversee company training programs for Team Members in areas of compliance training.
- Lead and direct day to day work as defined by business needs.
- Where applicable, support with staff selection, drive performance, development, and training processes to ensure team competencies and capabilities to reach the business goals and expectations with increasing flexibility through clear goals and objectives.
- Consistent exercise of independent judgment and discretion in matters of significance.
- Other responsibilities as assigned.
Qualifications
- Post-secondary degree in Occupational Health, Safety, or equivalent combination of relevant education (NEBOSH General Certificate) and 5β7 years of experience that will allow successful performance of job expectations.
- Strong leadership and management skills to enable the creation of a highly capable and sustainable Health, Safety and Environment Team.
- Considerable experience and knowledge of Material Safety Data Sheets and hazardous waste disposal procedures, as well as industry safety regulation.
- Strong knowledge and experience in government laws/regulations regarding Health, Safety and Environment.
- Initiative-taking with the ability to identify and resolve technical, operational, and organisational problems.
- Excellent interpersonal, written, and oral communication skills with the ability to negotiate and influence, while exercising sensitivity to the audience.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite and database management tools.
