The successful candidate will independently operate as a multi-skilled, adaptable Composite Laminator, working with pre-preg carbon fibre to kit, layup, bag, and debag components according to complex engineering drawings and moulds, producing high precision composite items.
Responsibilities
- Carry out tool preparation, including cleaning and applying release agent.
- Perform kit and lay‑up operations, including cutting kit of materials for build sequence, warp and weft, and laying material onto mould surface in correct orientation and build sequence.
- Use vacuum bagging techniques, including manufacturing breather bag material kit.
- Operate cure operations in accordance with agreed engineering methods and processes, using plant and process equipment such as autoclaves, ovens, and vacuum pumps.
- Maintain compliance with Quality procedures and ensure adherence to defined processes.
- Operate within Parker Meggitt Health and Safety regulations.
- Attend shift meetings to understand team targets, key issues, and communications.
- Detect and escalate any issues to team leaders in a timely manner.
Qualifications
- Minimum 2 years’ experience in a composites laminator position.
- Understanding of shelf life of materials (advantage).
- Experience within aerospace or other high‑technology industry (asset).
- Focused, committed with ability to work with minimal supervision.
- Capable of driving projects through to completion.
- Good interpersonal skills.
- Computer literacy including competence in Microsoft Excel and Word.
- Creative with excellent problem‑solving skills.
