Overview
Parker Hannifin, a global leader in motion and control technologies, is seeking a Mechanical Engineer (with a materials focus) to support our aerospace business. You will be within the first few years of your career, able to work as part of a multidisciplinary engineering team, developing and supporting high-reliability products for demanding flight environments.
Responsibilities:
- Provide materials engineering support for aerospace components and assemblies.
- Select metallic materials based on performance, manufacturability, cost, and regulatory requirements.
- Develop and optimize metal joining solutions (e.g. welding, brazing, soldering, mechanical fastening).
- Support root cause analysis, failure investigations, and corrective actions.
- Create and maintain technical documentation, specifications, and test plans.
- Collaborate with design, manufacturing, quality, and suppliers to ensure robust, producible designs.
Essential skills and experience you’ll need to have to be considered for this position:
- Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Materials/Metallurgical Engineering, or related field.
- 2–3+ years relevant engineering experience, ideally in aerospace or other highly regulated industry.
- Broad knowledge of metal joining techniques, metallurgy, and material selection for structural and high-temperature applications.
- Demonstrated ability as an excellent, methodical problem solver, using data-driven approaches and structured root cause tools.
- Strong communication skills and ability to work effectively in cross-functional teams.
Ideally, you’ll also have:
- Knowledge of the selection and performance of materials for use in extreme high and low temperatures.
