Position Overview

As a Quality Engineer within our Braking Systems Division (BSD) you’ll support the design, manufacture, and delivery of aerospace products that meet customer, regulatory, and Parker quality requirements by developing, implementing, and continuously improving quality systems, processes, and tools. You’ll work onsite Monday-Friday serving as the primary technical resource for product and process quality, leading root cause analysis and corrective actions, driving variation reduction and defect prevention, supporting AS9100/AS9145 and customer compliance, and partnering with cross-functional teams to ensure robust qualification, configuration control, and ongoing conformance throughout the product lifecycle.

This role executes and supports the value stream quality strategy, serving as a key technical interface to customers, supplier quality/management, internal functions, and value stream leaders. The position requires an experienced quality professional who can interpret and communicate customer requirements, translate them into effective controls and standards, and ensure internal value streams and external suppliers achieve and sustain zero-defect performance.

Key Responsibilities

  1. Conduct Assurance
  • Govern key business metrics that demonstrates compliance to AS9100/AS13100/ISO9001, customer, and regulatory requirements
  • Conduct Layered Process Audits (LPA), Product and Process audits to industry standards (e.g. ISO9001, AS9100/9110/9120, CAA, EASA etc.)
  • Review First Article Inspection Reports to AS9102
  • Identify and mitigate quality risks throughout the value stream, ensuring product safety and reliability
  • Ensure accurate and timely documentation of quality records, inspection reports, and compliance evidence as per aerospace industry requirements
  1. Protect the Business
  • Provide quality support to the value stream(s)
  • Ensure containment for concerns are implemented & drive root cause, corrective actions using effective problem resolution methodologies such as 8Ds in a timely manner to business objectives
  • Maintain, analyse and drive performance of key quality metrics (e.g., First Pass Yield, defect rates, audit findings) across the value stream
  1. Enable / Continuous Improvement
  • Lead quality performance improvement initiatives internally and externally
  • Roll-out and support the implementation of the ZeroDefect program to reduce DPPM
  • Actively engaged in Kaizen events

Essential skills and experience you’ll need to be considered for this position

  • Working knowledge and experience of Part 21 subpart G (UKCAA, EASA, FAA, CAAC), ISO9001, AS9100 and AS9102. Ability to read and interpret regulations, airworthiness directives, and technical specifications
  • Comprehensive understanding of and ability to read engineering drawings and specifications
  • Awareness of human factors principles, just culture, management system requirements and applicable regulations
  • Relevant work experience, of which at least 2 years should be from the aeronautical industry or an equivalent industry/field
  • A relevant engineering or technical degree, or an aircraft technician or maintenance engineer qualification with additional education that is acceptable to the competent authority
  • Knowledge of a relevant sample of the type(s) of aircraft or components gained through a training course or on the job experience working with the products
  • Experience in the effective use of problem resolution processes such as A3 or 8D and Root Cause Analysis tools e.g. 5 why analysis, Cause & Effect, Design of experiments
  • Proficient in APQP, DFMEA, PFMEA, PPAP, Control Plans, Root Cause analysis
  • Proven Experience and demonstrable success in Continuous Improvement best practices, such as Lean, Six Sigma
  • SAP or similar MRP system experience
  • Information Technology literate

Desirable

  • AS/EN/JISQ 9100 Lead Auditor Certified
  • Comprehensive knowledge of part 21/part 145 and AS9100/AS13100
  • Knowledge & Experience in Safety Management Systems (for application in a part 21 environment)
  • Extensive experience and track record of working in a similar role within the Automotive or Aerospace Industry with good working knowledge of industry standards and regulations
  • Understanding of Calibration systems
