We are now seeking a Temporary Maintenance Technician to support our 24/7/365 manufacturing facility on a 12 month basis, who shares our purpose of enabling engineering breakthroughs that lead to a better tomorrow. You will perform planned and reactive electrical maintenance, fault finding on production equipment and controls, and support continuous improvement to maximize equipment uptime and safety. This role requires working the specified 6‑week rotating shift pattern.
Shift Pattern (required)
- 6‑week rotation shifts: Day shift — 07:00 to 19:00, operating on a 3 on / 3 off pattern
- Night shift — 19:00 to 07:00, operating on a 3 on / 3 off pattern
Responsibilities
- Carry out electrical maintenance, troubleshooting and repair of production machinery and plant equipment (motors, drives, panels, sensors, actuators, conveyors).
- Diagnose and repair faults on control systems including PLCs, HMIs and variable frequency drives.
- Read and work from electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, P&IDs and technical manuals to locate faults and perform modifications.
- Perform planned preventative maintenance (PPM) and predictive maintenance tasks; complete maintenance records and job cards accurately.
- Commission, test and validate repaired or modified equipment to ensure it meets operational and safety requirements.
- Isolate and safely restore electrical circuits in accordance with lockout/tagout and company procedures.
- Escalate recurring faults and support root‑cause analysis and corrective actions.
- Maintain spares and tooling levels; support stock checks and requisitions for electrical components.
- Work closely with mechanical technicians, engineering and quality teams to support production targets and continuous improvement initiatives.
- Adhere to all health, safety and environmental policies and participate in toolbox talks and safety activities.
Qualifications
- Qualified electrician/technician: City & Guilds/NVQ Level 3, apprenticeship or equivalent electrical maintenance qualification.
- Experience in industrial electrical maintenance within a high‑speed manufacturing environment.
- Proven experience fault‑finding on PLCs and HMIs (e.g., Siemens, Allen‑Bradley/Rockwell, or equivalent).
- Experience with VFDs/drives, motor control, and electrical control panels.
- Comfortable reading electrical schematics and using multimeters, portable PAT testers and other test equipment.
- Strong record‑keeping skills and familiarity with CMMS or maintenance record systems.
Desirable
- Experience with IEE wiring regulation, electrical & ladder diagrams.
- Experience with industrial boiler (BG01) and induction furnaces.
- Experience in safety‑critical or regulated industries (aerospace, medical, automotive).
- Formal training in PLC programming/diagnostics or manufacturer‑specific drive training.
- BS7671, 18th Edition Qualification.

Working conditions & physical requirements
- Work in a 24/7 manufacturing environment with exposure to noise and moving machinery.
- Able to climb ladders, access plant areas and handle electrical panels.
- This is a hands‑on role that will include standing, walking and working from elevated platforms.

- Must comply with the site permit‑to‑work, lockout/tagout, hot work and electrical isolation procedures.
- Participation in site safety briefings and incident reporting is required.
- Pre‑employment checks may include right‑to‑work, drug & alcohol screening and background checks.
