Location: Ansty Park, Coventry
Shift pattern: 1 week of earlies: 6am - 2pm (early finish Friday); 1 week of lates: 2pm – 10:15pm (early finish Friday)
About The Role
We are seeking an experienced Contractor CNC Machinist to support ongoing production and machining requirements on a contract basis. You will be responsible for setting up, operating, and optimizing CNC machines to produce high-quality components to specification, ensuring output meets safety, quality, and delivery targets.
Key Responsibilities:
- Set, operate, and adjust CNC milling and/or turning machines (3/4/5-axis depending on site needs)
- Read and interpret engineering drawings, tolerances, and GD&T where applicable
- Select tooling, set offsets, prove-out programs, and perform first-off inspections
- Modify CNC programs at the machine (G-code) and/or via CAM where required
- Monitor tool wear, troubleshoot machining issues, and implement corrective actions
- Conduct in-process inspection using measuring equipment (micrometers, calipers, gauges, CMM exposure desirable)
- Maintain accurate job documentation and adhere to quality procedures
- Work safely at all times and support continuous improvement initiatives
Required Skills & Experience:
- Proven experience as a CNC Machinist in a production or precision engineering environment
- Strong competence in set-up and operation (ideally with both mill and lathe experience)
- Ability to work to tight tolerances and deliver consistent quality
- Confident interpreting drawings and inspection requirements
- Experience with common control systems such as Fanuc, Haas, Mazak, Siemens, Heidenhain (specify as applicable)
- Good problem-solving skills and ability to work independently as a contractor
- Engineering apprenticeship or equivalent
Desirable (Nice to Have)
- 2+ years-axis machining experience
- CAD/CAM experience (e.g., Mastercam, Fusion 360, Hypermill, Edgecam)
- Experience machining materials such as stainless steel, aluminum, titanium, Inconel
- First Article Inspection (FAI) or aerospace/medical quality exposure (where relevant)
