Parker Hannifin is a global leader in motion and control technologies – we’re seeking a Test Systems Development Engineer to propose, design and develop innovative and ‘best practice’ test systems and test equipment solutions. In this position you will also liaise/support the subcontracted design and development of test systems, providing input and support into test systems planning, verification, integration, design liaison and cost planning from concept to completion, and introduction.

Key Responsibilities

  • Help to coordinate with engineering design, manufacturing, subcontract design supplier, selected supply sources, and specialist organisations on any issue associated with test system design and development.
  • Prepare hardware and software test requirements from the Engineering Product Acceptance Specifications (PAS) for the design and development of test systems, test modules and components.
  • Provide support with the internal, or external design and development of test systems through the complete test system development life cycle.
  • Produce test system proposals and technical specifications, with complete documentation specifying the system design, cost and delivery times.
  • Design and develop test systems, including both test system controlling and monitoring software, with the hardware build from design reviews and product acceptance specifications (PAS).
  • Assemble test hardware and test prototype and fully functional test systems, produce testing and verification procedures and perform the verification and commissioning procedures.
  • Provide technical support to other departments, sub-contractors and suppliers, including handover training, and handover documentation, with test equipment operational, maintenance and H/S instructions.
  • Support forward planning with the commissioning and introduction of test systems/equipment to meet the project milestones.

Essential skills and experience you’ll need to be considered for this position

  • Design and development of manual and automatic test systems/processes within a manufacturing environment comprising of a combination of the following:
  • Developing LabVIEW/TestStand applications to control OEM rack mounted equipment National Instruments SCXI, PCI & DIO.
  • Ability to gather data, compile information, and prepare reports.
  • Strong computer skills including proficiency with Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Access, Outlook, and web-browsers.
  • Good technical knowledge of software applications, processes, products, and hardware architecture (National Instruments/LabVIEW/TestStand/CVI).

Ideally, you’ll also have

  • Knowledge of temperature and vibrations testing within a Manufacturing environment.
  • Instrument control GPIB, Serial/USB/PXI Systems.
  • Communication – RS485/422, MIL-STD1553 and ARINC429.
