As Senior Project Manager you will provide programme leadership and governance for complex design / multiple aircraft projects: set programme strategy, secure resources, manage top‑tier supplier contracts, own regulatory engagement and certification strategy, and ensure project‑level risks and benefits are realised for organisational objectives. You’ll lead day‑to‑day delivery of complex, often concurrent / inter‑linked, projects through an Integrated Project team and will be accountable for the delivery of a complex aerospace project or a series of projects, as well as translating design/airworthiness inputs from the Design Lead, and Control Account Managers, into a clear plan (scope, schedule, budget, risks).
The Project Management discipline orchestrates the delivery of engineering projects by translating the technical vision set with the design lead into a controlled plan of scope, schedule, budget, risk and resources, while coordinating cross‑functional teams both within, and external to, Engineering. In this role, you’ll establish and maintain integration plans, milestone schedules and change‑control processes so that Systems engineers can manage architecture and requirements, Electronics and Mechanical teams can meet form/fit/function and manufacturability constraints, and Software teams can align development, test and release cycles.
Key Responsibilities
- Chair programme boards/steering groups and consolidate project reporting for execs
- Coordinate negotiations with OEMs, primes and certification authorities (with Commercial Support)
- Manage cross‑functional interactions
- Mentor junior team members PMs; triage escalations and unblock strategic issues
- Oversee major test campaigns (Product Development, In‑Service Support), regulatory submissions and high‑level risk mitigation
Essential skills and experience you’ll need to be considered for this position
- Technical degree required or equivalent experience; 10+ years leading complex aerospace programmes with growing responsibility
- Proven leadership of PMs, major contract negotiation and programme financial accountability
- Deep regulatory/compliance experience (FAA/ EASA/ Defence aviation authorities) and ability to represent the organisation to regulators and Senior Customers
Ideally, you’ll also have
- MSc/Chartered Engineer or MBA desirable; PgMP or advanced project management certification
- Proven track record delivering complex design/change projects or major modifications with successful FAA EASA/ CAA certification
- Experience negotiating with certification authorities, managing internal/external stakeholders, major supplier/prime contracts and program‑level finance/P&L
