Parker Meggitt occupies a leading position in the design and manufacture of aircraft engine shell-and-tube and plate-and-fin heat exchangers. We are a significant supplier to both civil and military aviation, with products used on the majority of the latest aeroengines, including LEAP, PurePower and F135.
Position Overview: Responsible for the execution of engineering projects supporting Thermal Management Systems products for aerospace applications. Leads complex projects ensuring alignment with customer requirements, product performance, cost targets, and schedule commitments. Apply sound engineering principles to the design development, and validation of mechanical units, while managing technical scope, risks, and deliverables. Responsibilities include planning and coordinating cross‑functional activities, tracking project progress and supporting cost and schedule management to achieve programme objectives. Working in the Design Engineering team, this role collaborates with Manufacturing, Quality, and Programme Management teams, as well as interfacing with customers and suppliers to support technical coordination and issue resolution.
Key Responsibilities:
- Develops project objectives by reviewing technical proposals, product requirements, and customer specifications in collaboration with management and cross‑functional teams.
- Plans, organises, and executes complex engineering projects, including defining scope, deliverables, milestones, resource needs, and risk mitigation strategies.
- Prepares and maintains project plans and schedules aligned to programme requirements.
- Identifies and resolves issues to maintain alignment with committed timelines.
- Manages technical scope and budget by monitoring costs, reviewing design and requirements changes, and recommending actions to achieve project objectives.
- Coordinates cross‑functional activities with Manufacturing, Quality, Supply Chain, and Programme Management to support product design, development, validation, and production readiness.
- Applies engineering principles to review and contribute to technical work products such as component designs, analysis, test plans, procedures and technical reports ensuring compliance with customer, regulatory, and company standards.
Essential skills and experience you’ll need to be considered for this position:
- Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering or a related technical discipline.
- Typically, 3-5 years of relevant engineering experience, preferably in aerospace or related industries.
- Solid understanding of engineering principles, product design, and industry standards, with the ability to apply knowledge across technical disciplines.
- Demonstrated project management and organisational skills, with the ability to manage scope, schedule, and cost objectives.
- Experience with 3D CAD, engineering analysis/simulation tools, risk analysis methods (e.g. DFMEA) and design for manufacturing preferred.
- Strong analytical, problem‑solving and continuous improvement mindset with experience applying engineering best practices and process improvements.
- Effective communication skills, with the ability to present technical information and collaborate with cross‑functions teams, customers, and suppliers.
- Proficiency with standard engineering and project management tools and systems.
