Here at Parker Meggitt, we’re recruiting for a Commercial Contract Specialist to join our team on‑site in Fareham. In this position you’ll play a crucial role in managing new contracts, supporting bid/no‑bid decision making, ensuring compliance with legal and organisational requirements alongside fostering positive relationships with stakeholders.
We are looking for candidates with experience gained from a highly engineered goods manufacturing industry, contract management, or related fields.
Key Responsibilities- Assess contractual and commercial risk and provide appropriate advice to site leadership and site functional departments.
- Generate, draft, revise and negotiate terms and conditions for site specific business matters; compliance matrices; and make recommendations in accordance with Parker Meggitt policies.
- Administer highly competitive, major contract requirements by analysing performance requirements and customer purchase order requirements including those issued against Basic Contract Agreements and/or Long‑Term Agreements.
- Maintain contract files and maintain records of contract change activity.
- Investigate and resolve claims or assertions by collecting and analysing information.
- Monitor contract performance by determining compliance to contract requirements and determining the need for amendments or extensions to the contract.
- May provide contract subject‑matter expert advice to others in department or to ad‑hoc teams.
- Utilise legal resources and in‑house legal subject matter experts to ensure all levels of risk are recognised and subsequently addressed.
- Be the sites Data Protection Officer.
- Significant experience of working within a highly engineered goods manufacturing industry or contract management is essential to be considered for this position.
- A solid grasp of contract law and regulations is fundamental. This includes knowledge of legal terminology, clauses, and the implications of contractual agreements.
- Familiarity with relevant laws and regulations that affect contracts, including procurement laws and product safety regulations.
- The ability to meticulously review contracts for accuracy, clarity, and compliance.
- Strong analytical skills are necessary to assess risks, evaluate contract terms, and make informed decisions.
- A skilled negotiator with strong verbal communication skills; capable of discussing contract terms with stakeholders, negotiating with vendors, and presenting contract‑related information, as well as reaching agreements that satisfy both parties while protecting the organisation’s interests.
- The ability to mediate disputes and resolve conflicts that may arise during negotiations or contract execution.
- Proficiency in drafting clear and concise contracts, amendments, and correspondence, including the ability to articulate complex legal concepts in understandable terms.
- The ability to manage multiple contracts simultaneously, ensuring that deadlines are met and that all parties are informed of their responsibilities.
- The ability to build and maintain relationships with internal stakeholders, clients, and vendors is crucial for successful contract management.
- Working effectively with cross‑functional teams, including legal, finance, procurement, and operations, to ensure alignment on contract matters.
- Familiarity with contract management systems and software tools that facilitate the creation, tracking, and management of contracts.
- Bachelor’s Degree, ideally in Business Administration, Law, or Finance & Accounting.
- A professional qualification in World Commerce and Contracting, or equivalent.
