Position Summary
Perform brazing operations on metal components, assemblies, and tubing according to work instructions, drawings, and specifications.
Ideally the candidate would also be able to weld / willing to learn.
- Hours
- Monday to Friday 6am - 2pm
- Monday to Friday 6am - 2pm rotating to Monday to Thursday 2pm - midnight
- Your responsibilities
- Prepare parts for brazing by cleaning, fitting, aligning, and securing components prior to joining.
- Operate brazing equipment, torches, fixtures, and related hand tools safely and effectively.
- Select and apply appropriate filler metals, fluxes, and heating techniques based on material and process requirements.
- Inspect completed brazed joints for proper appearance, strength, coverage, and conformance to quality standards.
- Read and interpret blueprints, work orders, routing documents, and technical specifications.
- Maintain proper heat control to prevent distortion, overheating, or damage to components.
- Follow established quality procedures and document production results as required.
- Identify and report defects, material issues, equipment problems, or process concerns to the supervisor or quality team.
- Perform basic rework or touch-up operations when permitted by procedure.
- Performs ancillary processes such as blasting and polishing
- Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work area in accordance with company safety standards.
- Use required personal protective equipment and follow all safety rules related to hot work, gases, chemicals, and ventilation.
- Support continuous improvement activities related to safety, quality, productivity, and cost reduction.
- Work collaboratively with production, quality, maintenance, and engineering to meet production schedules and customer requirements.
Who we are looking for
- Hands-on brazing or metal joining experience in a manufacturing, production, or repair environment.
- Experience preparing components for joining, including cleaning, fitting, aligning, fixturing, and securing parts.
- Ability to read and interpret blueprints, work instructions, routing documents, and technical specifications.
- Experience using hand tools, torches, fixtures, and related production equipment safely and effectively.
- Experience inspecting finished parts or joints to verify quality, appearance, coverage, and conformance to standards.
- Ideally, you will also have
- Experience with ancillary finishing processes, such as blasting, polishing, deburring, or surface preparation.
- Experience supporting continuous improvement activities, such as safety, quality, productivity, or cost-reduction initiatives.
What we offer
- Annual salary of £27,000 plus shift premium (5% for permanent early and 25% for rotating shifts).
- Annual Cash Incentive Plan: 5% bonus opportunity (minimum pay out of 2.5%).
- Pension: Employee contribution between 3% and 7% with Parker then contributing between 6% and 10%.
- Holidays: 25 days, increasing with length of service plus bank holidays.
