The Role

As a Claims Handler, you will support commercial clients through the claims process from notification through to settlement, ensuring they receive clear advice, regular updates, and a high level of service when they need it most.

  • Handling a varied caseload of commercial insurance claims from cradle to grave
  • Supporting clients ranging from smaller owner‑managed businesses through to larger commercial clients
  • Liaising with insurers, loss adjusters, solicitors, and other third parties
  • Using your knowledge and influence with insurers to help achieve fair and timely claim outcomes
  • Reviewing policy wordings and coverage positions to understand what clients are entitled to
  • Challenging disputed or wrongly repudiated claims where appropriate
  • Keeping clients updated throughout the process and managing expectations properly
  • Recording and managing claims activity using Acturis
  • Working closely with Account Executives, Account Handlers, and the wider broking team

This is a role for someone who understands that claims service is where insurance promises are either proven or exposed. No pressure, then — just the bit clients actually remember.

What They’re Looking For

The ideal candidate will have experience working as a Claims Handler within an insurance broker environment.

They will look at candidates at all level, from Handlers to Managers, the role will be created to match the experience and strengths of the successful person.

Experience using Acturis would be a strong advantage, although training can be provided if required.

You will ideally have:

  • Previous experience handling commercial insurance claims
  • A background within an insurance broker, although strong insurer claims experience may also be considered
  • Knowledge of commercial insurance classes
  • Strong communication and client service skills
  • Good attention to detail and the ability to manage a busy caseload
  • Confidence dealing with insurers and third parties
  • The ability to manage client expectations professionally
  • Acturis experience, or the willingness to learn the system
  • A positive, proactive approach and the ability to work well as part of a team
