Job Description
Our client an exciting and rapidly growing organisation are seeking a Warehouse Manager to join their busy team.
The Warehouse Manager will be responsible for overseeing the daily operations of the warehouse, ensuring efficient, accurate, and safe storage, movement, and handling of goods. This includes managing staff, monitoring inventory levels, ensuring compliance with safety and regulatory standards, and driving process improvements to optimize warehouse operations. The Warehouse Manager will report to the Head Of Operations and work closely with other departments to ensure timely delivery and customer satisfaction. You will be the key point of contact for all partnering organizations as well as internal sales team offering strategic advice and comprehensive solutions for shipping, delivery and optimization. A working knowledge of exporting and importing goods is highly desirable.
Key Responsibilities:
Warehouse Operations Management:
- Oversee all aspects of warehouse operations, including receiving, storing, inventory management, picking, packing, and shipping of products.
- Coordinate and monitor the movement of inventory within the warehouse, ensuring accuracy and timeliness.
- Manage inbound and outbound logistics, including scheduling shipments, coordinating with carriers, and tracking deliveries.
- Ensure proper handling of inventory to avoid damage and loss.
- Innovation and continuous improvement techniques
- Motivate and lead a team of up to 10 staff members and manage labor requirements
- Occasional liaison with key customers from an operational standpoint
- Inventory Control:
- Maintain accurate stock levels and ensure proper storage methods are in place for various products.
- Conduct regular cycle counts and audits to ensure inventory accuracy.
- Develop and implement inventory management strategies to minimize stockouts, overstocks, and dead stock.
- Report and inspect and customer concerns or complaints
- Investigate discrepancies reported by customers and offer reasonable rationale
Team Leadership and Management:
- Lead, motivate, and develop a team of warehouse associates, supervisors, and other personnel.
- Set clear performance expectations and provide ongoing training and support to improve team performance.
- Develop and implement staffing schedules to ensure optimal coverage and efficiency.
- Conduct regular performance reviews and handle employee disciplinary actions as needed.
Safety and Compliance:
- Ensure that all warehouse operations comply with health, safety, and environmental regulations.
- Implement and enforce safety protocols to minimize accidents, injuries, and product damage.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and hazard-free warehouse environment.
- Ensure all equipment is in good working order and that employees are trained to operate it safely.
- Monitor staff licensing and training dates, ensuring sufficient cover is in place at all times.
Process Improvement:
- Identify and implement process improvements to increase efficiency, reduce costs, and enhance service levels.
- Monitor key metrics to assess performance and make data-driven decisions for continuous improvement.
- Work with other departments (e.g., procurement, sales, and customer service) to streamline operations and meet business objectives.
Reporting and Analysis:
- Provide regular reports on warehouse performance, including inventory levels, order fulfillment rates, and safety metrics.
- Analyse operational data and identify trends, challenges, and opportunities for improvement.
- Collaborate with management to develop and implement strategies to optimize warehouse operations.
Qualifications and Skills:
- 5+ years of experience in warehouse operations, with at least 2 years in a management role.
- Strong knowledge of warehouse management systems (WMS) and inventory control software.
- Post Brexit Export and Import experience is desirable.
- Experience of WMS implementation would be beneficial.
- Proven leadership skills with the ability to motivate and manage a team.
- Excellent organizational, problem-solving, and multitasking skills.
- Strong communication skills, both verbal and written.
- Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines.
- Forklift certification and knowledge of warehouse safety protocols.
Suitable candidates will be 'handson' with a positive attitude, commercially focussed, leading by example with excellent communication skills.
