Know Your Tech Inside Out

Make sure you brush up on your technical knowledge before the interview. Familiarise yourself with common IT support issues, software, and hardware that the company uses. Being able to discuss specific technologies or protocols like SNMP, BACnet, or Modbus will show that you're genuinely interested and prepared.

Show Off Your Problem-Solving Skills

Prepare examples of how you've diagnosed and resolved IT issues in the past. Use the STAR method (Situation, Task, Action, Result) to structure your answers. This will help demonstrate your calm approach to problem-solving and your ability to think on your feet.

Communicate Clearly and Confidently

Since you'll be the first point of contact for IT support, strong communication skills are a must. Practice explaining technical concepts in simple terms, as you might need to assist colleagues who aren't as tech-savvy. This will highlight your ability to engage with people at all levels.

Be Organised and Ready to Adapt

Show that you're organised by bringing a copy of your CV, a list of references, and any relevant certifications. Also, be prepared to discuss how you manage your time and tasks, especially in a hybrid working environment. Flexibility is key, so be ready to talk about how you can adapt to different situations.
