Remote — UK-based (with occasional travel to the office). This role exists to give the Salesforce team the dedicated leadership it needs as the platform continues to grow and mature — a genuine opportunity to own something and make it better.
You will line-manage five Salesforce engineers while staying close to the code yourself. The balance between coding and leadership will flex based on what’s needed — some weeks you’ll be deep in technical work, others you’ll be focused on people and process. You’ll have the autonomy to judge where your time creates the most value — strengthening the team and the platform is your primary responsibility. Your success will be measured by the effectiveness of the team and the health of the platform — not your individual code output.
What You Will Be Doing
- Line-manage five Salesforce engineers: objectives and career development
- Coach and develop your engineers
- Hire and onboard new engineers as the team evolves
- Set clear expectations and hold the team to consistent performance and quality standards
- Build a culture of accountability, collaboration, and continuous improvement
- Technical Leadership
- Design, build, and maintain Salesforce solutions using Apex, LWC, SOQL, and Flow
- Collaborate with the architecture team on platform design decisions
- Work with leadership to prioritise and advocate for technical health alongside delivery
- Define and embed engineering standards: coding practices, testing, deployment, and documentation
- Conduct code reviews that raise the bar, not just catch defects
- Integration & Platform
- Own integrations between Salesforce and other systems (web, booking, finance platforms)
- Maintain and improve CI/CD pipelines
- Ensure platform reliability, scalability, and performance
- Stakeholder Engagement
- Work closely with Product, Delivery, and Engineering leadership to prioritise and deliver
- Contribute technical perspective to discussions on progress, trade-offs, and priorities
- Build strong working relationships across the business
About You
You’ve led engineers before — not just mentored or tech-led, but actually line-managed with performance accountability. You’re still energised by hands-on technical work but ready to take ownership of a team and a platform. You understand that leadership means multiplying impact through others, not being the smartest person in the room. If you’re looking for your first people-management position, this is not it.
- Proven experience line-managing software engineers
- Experience with Salesforce integrations (APIs, middleware, web services)
- Familiarity with CI/CD pipelines for Salesforce
- Track record of improving engineering standards and practices
- Experience with Salesforce CPQ, Billing, or Vonage packages
- Salesforce certifications (Platform Developer II, Application Architect, or Technical Architect)
