Are you a seasoned tax professional ready to take on a leadership role? We’re seeking an experienced Head of Tax to join our dynamic Group Finance team, where you’ll play a pivotal role in delivering exceptional financial services to our stakeholders.

As part of a team dedicated to excellence, you’ll oversee all external financial reporting, provide expert technical guidance, and strengthen our governance and control frameworks across the Finance Department and the broader organisation. In this key position, you’ll take charge of managing all direct and indirect tax matters, ensuring compliance and driving strategic value.

What you will be doing…

  1. Overall day to day management of all tax matters at Parkdean, excluding day to day payroll.
  2. Responsibility for indirect and direct tax returns being delivered on time and accurately. Part or all of this work may be delegated to advisors or parts of the finance team, if not already.
  3. Line manager of Indirect Tax Manager (0.5 FTE VAT specialist)
  4. Review of tax provisions and associated notes for inclusion in the statutory financial statements, with preparation support from external advisors.
  5. Leading on tax matters through the audit process.
  6. Calculation of detailed tax forecasts and advising the business of future tax-saving opportunities.
  7. To assist with SAO filing obligations and ensuring robust tax governance and controls are in place, reviewed and documented.
  8. Leading on tax advisory projects with use of the Group’s tax and legal advisors.
  9. Management of tax budget, including advisors as appropriate.
  10. Driving improvements and processes in the business to improve tax compliance and efficiency.
  11. Rapid response to business tax issues.
  12. Board reporting on tax matters as appropriate.
  13. Quarterly formal reporting to the Group Financial Controller, Group Finance Director and Chief Finance Officer on tax matters.
  14. Working closely with the IT and finance systems team(s) to drive tax reporting improvements.

Some of the skills we’re looking for:

  1. Qualified accountant and/or CTA qualified, with a few years PQE.
  2. Significant experience working as a tax advisor (both direct and indirect experience preferable, but not necessary) or within a group tax function.
  3. Can demonstrate a talent for leadership.
  4. Self-motivated, highly organised and proactive.
  5. Excellent communication skills, with an ability to communicate at all levels whilst working in pressurised situations.
  6. Commitment to high quality and good customer service.
