Our client based near Yeovil are currently looking for a Part-Time Accountant & Payroll Officer to join their team.

This is a varied role suited to someone who enjoys working closely with clients, managing their own workload and getting involved across payroll, bookkeeping, VAT and accounts.

You’ll ideally have experience working in an accountancy practice and be AAT qualified or working towards a professional accounting qualification such as AAT, ACCA or CIMA.

Key Responsibilities

  • Payroll
  • Process weekly and monthly payrolls for a portfolio of clients
  • Liaise with clients to obtain payroll information and resolve queries
  • Prepare and distribute payroll reports and advise clients of PAYE payments due
  • Manage workplace pension processes, including opt-outs and re-enrolment requirements
  • Investigate and resolve payroll discrepancies with HMRC
  • Prepare and submit VAT returns
  • Ensure client records are complete, accurate and up to date
  • Accounts
  • Prepare accounts up to Trial Balance for review
  • Assist with year-end accounts preparation
  • Provide clients with support and guidance on accounting software

Requirements

  • Previous experience within an accountancy practice is essential
  • AAT qualified or currently studying towards AAT, ACCA or CIMA
  • Solid practical knowledge of bookkeeping, VAT and payroll
  • Excellent attention to detail and a naturally accurate approach
  • Well organised, able to prioritise effectively and comfortable working to multiple deadlines
  • A proactive attitude and willingness to take ownership of your work
