Position: 1ST Cook Casual
Location: Bolivar Creek Retirement Residence, Surrey, BC
Salary: $20-25/hr
Position Summary:
The Cook will prepare meals for the Residents in the dining room. Responsible for following safe cooking practices and taking direction from the Executive Chef and Food Services Manager. A variety of culinary tasks will be required, along with standard cleaning tasks. May be required to assist in food ordering, receiving, and storage.
Qualifications:
- Formal training in quantity food preparation from a recognized institution or school preferred, or experience in quantity food preparation preferred
- Food Safe Level 1 certificate required
- Previous experience in long-term care preferred
- Must be physically fit and in good health, able to push, pull, and lift at least 50 lbs, and stand for long periods
- Effective written and oral communication skills in English
- Knowledge of commercial kitchen equipment and safety procedures
- Strong organizational skills and ability to stay focused
- Reliable with attendance, able to work scheduled shifts in their entirety
- Clear criminal record check with Vulnerable Sector screening (no older than 6 months)
- Appropriate attire
- Ability to work independently and as part of an interdisciplinary team
