Key Responsibilities:

  • Meal Preparation: Plan and prepare daily meals for residents according to menu plans. Ensure meals are nutritious, balanced, and suitable for elderly residents. Cater for special diets such as diabetic, vegetarian, soft/pureed, low-salt, or allergen-free diets.
  • Menu Planning: Design seasonal menus with variety and nutritional value. Consider residents' preferences and cultural needs. Work with care staff or nutritionists to meet dietary requirements.
  • Food Safety & Hygiene: Maintain high standards of cleanliness in the kitchen. Follow HACCP procedures. Comply with Food Standards Agency regulations. Ensure proper food storage, temperature control, and stock rotation.
  • Kitchen Management: Manage kitchen supplies and stock levels. Order food ingredients and check deliveries. Control food waste and manage kitchen budgets where required.
  • Resident Interaction: Engage with residents about meal preferences. Adapt meals for residents with swallowing difficulties or medical conditions. Provide meals that are both nutritious and enjoyable.
  • Supervision: Supervise kitchen assistants or catering staff if applicable. Train staff on food safety and preparation standards.
