Park High School is seeking to appoint a creative, enthusiastic and highly motivated Teacher of English to join our excellent English department from September 2026. This is an exciting opportunity for either an Early Career Teacher or an experienced practitioner who is looking to broaden their experience within a wonderfully diverse, multicultural and high-achieving school community. The post is available on a permanent, full-time or part-time basis, paid on the Outer London Pay Scale, M1-UP3.

The successful candidate will teach English across Key Stages 3 and 4, and Key Stage 5 where appropriate, delivering well-structured, adaptive and inclusive lessons that meet the needs of all learners, including disadvantaged students, high prior attainers and students with SEND. You will be responsible for planning and delivering high-quality lessons that enable students to make strong progress, develop confidence and achieve positive outcomes. You will also contribute to departmental schemes of learning, assessment, feedback, moderation and standardisation, helping to ensure that students benefit from a consistent, ambitious and engaging English curriculum.

The Park High English curriculum celebrates the power and magic of words and stories. Students are taught in mixed-ability groups throughout Years 7-11 and experience a rich curriculum that champions the joy of storytelling, from William Shakespeare to Lorraine Hansberry, and Charles Dickens to Malala Yousafzai. At GCSE, the department follows Eduqas for English Language and AQA for English Literature. At A Level, students follow the OCR specification and explore a breadth of powerful and inspirational texts, including works by Angela Carter, Claudia Rankine and Chimamanda Ngozi Adichie.

We are looking for a teacher with secure subject knowledge, excellent communication and organisational skills, and a genuine commitment to raising expectations and achievement for all students. The successful candidate will promote literacy, oracy and a love of learning both within the classroom and through wider extra-curricular opportunities. You will also play an active role in the wider life of the school, including contributing to pastoral support as a form tutor and supporting students’ wellbeing, attendance, positive behaviour and personal development.

Park High is a school of character and opportunity, recognised for its caring and harmonious ethos, excellent behaviour for learning and strong outcomes. We can offer an exciting learning environment where challenging, innovative and engaging learning is at the core of what we do; an award-winning, vibrant school with high standards in Harrow and beyond; a genuine commitment to staff wellbeing; outstanding outcomes including a significantly positive Progress 8 score and zero NEETs; and students who are motivated, respectful and eager to improve.

Staff benefit from a supportive, enthusiastic and inspiring team, opportunities to develop their craft across three Key Stages, a comprehensive CPD programme, strong ECT mentoring, collaboration with local high schools, a laptop for all teaching staff, the Teachers’ Pension Scheme with an employer contribution of at least 28.68%, paid lunchtime duties with a free lunch, a cycle to work scheme, staff wellbeing and counselling support, Annual Staff Voice and an active staff social committee.

If you are passionate about teaching a diverse and ambitious English curriculum that empowers students to find their own voices and look beyond the limits of their own worlds, we would be delighted to receive your application.
