Summary
The Night Auditor plays a dual role, combining overnight front desk duties with the completion of daily financial reconciliations. Responsible for ensuring accuracy in guest accounts, balancing the hotel’s revenue, and preparing reports for management, the Night Auditor also serves as a key overnight contact for guests.
Responsibilities
- Complete nightly financial audits, balancing guest accounts and revenue.
- Prepare and deliver daily reports for Finance and Front Office management.
- Process late check-ins, early departures, and guest requests.
- Maintain accuracy in billing, postings, and cash handling.
- Serve as a professional and approachable point of contact overnight.
- Manage overnight enquiries, bookings and guest requests.
- Support Night Manager in ensuring operational standards are upheld.
- Handle guest complaints and issues efficiently.
- Answer and manage incoming calls, emails and reservations.
- Accurately process payments and ensure the security of guest information.
- Monitor safety and security of the property during the shift.
- Conduct administrative tasks and system checks to support next-day readiness.
- Record and communicate guest feedback and incidents in daily log.
- Respond to emergency situations calmly.
- Maintain the reception and lobby area to a professional standard.
- Liaise with Housekeeping, Concierge, and other departments.
- Assist the Night Manager in any tasks required.
Skills and Qualifications
- Diploma or certificate in Hospitality, Accounting, or equivalent experience.
- Previous experience as Night Auditor or in Front Office operations.
- Strong numeracy and financial reconciliation skills.
- Proficiency in Opera PMS or similar hotel management systems.
- Fluent English required; additional languages are an advantage.
Working Conditions
- Overnight shifts, including weekends and bank holidays.
- Extended periods of standing at reception.
- Balance of guest-facing service and administrative tasks.
- Requires focus during late/early hours.
