We’re looking for a SQL Database Administrator to join our tech team and support the smooth running of our SQL Server estate. In this role, you’ll help maintain, monitor, and support our databases, working closely with our Development and Application Support teams to ensure reliable, high‑performing systems. You’ll also have the opportunity to build your infrastructure skills across servers, storage, backups, and more - with plenty of support and training along the way.
What you will be doing...
- Supporting the administration, configuration, and basic maintenance of SQL Server environments (development, test, and production).
- Monitoring database performance and assisting with troubleshooting under the guidance of senior DBAs.
- Helping maintain HA/DR solutions including Always On, clustering, log shipping, and replication (training provided).
- Working with Development and Application Support teams on database deployments and production releases.
- Reviewing simple SQL scripts, stored procedures, schema changes, and data updates, escalating complex items where needed.
- Providing basic operational support for Windows Server, VMware virtualisation, and storage technologies.
- Assisting with patching, monitoring, and routine maintenance for critical systems.
About you...
- Some hands‑on experience with SQL Server (2012–2022), including writing simple T‑SQL queries or scripts.
- An understanding of HA/DR technologies such as Always On, clustering, log shipping, and replication.
- General knowledge of Windows Server and core infrastructure concepts.
- An interest in supporting database deployments and working with development teams.
- Familiarity with virtualisation (e.g., VMware) — helpful but not essential.
- Exposure to PowerShell or a desire to learn scripting and automation.
- Strong problem‑solving and analytical skills, with an eagerness to develop your troubleshooting ability.
- Good task‑management skills in a busy environment.
- Bonus: exposure to Azure SQL, hybrid cloud environments, or monitoring tools (e.g., Graylog, PRTG).
- Excellent communication and documentation skills.
