Millions of families trust Parkdean Resorts for their holidays every year and almost every part of that experience, from the moment they start thinking about a break to the moment they check out, depends on our software working properly. The Lead Engineer role is where the quality of that software gets set. This is a senior, hands-on engineering role where you’ll lead from the front. You’ll take ownership of the technical direction within a product squad, while remaining actively involved in writing and reviewing production code. Alongside this, you’ll line manage and develop a team of Junior and Mid-Level Developers - helping them grow through hands-on coaching, feedback, and mentorship.
Working across our modern product stack (C#, ASP.NET, React, Azure, and SQL Server), you’ll be responsible for building and evolving the applications that support both our customers and our colleagues across 65 holiday parks. This is true product engineering - focused on the applications and experiences that matter most, working in close collaboration with our Cloud & Platform teams who support infrastructure and tooling.
What you will be doing...
- Setting the engineering standard through the code you write and review
- Owning technical design for features and components within your squad
- Leading, coaching and developing engineers through pairing, feedback, and regular 1:1s
- Building high-quality, production-ready software with testing embedded throughout
- Ensuring strong engineering practices across CI/CD, automation, and observability
- Driving performance, scalability, and security across the development lifecycle
- Collaborating closely with Product, Delivery, and Architecture teams to shape feasible, effective solutions
- Contributing to out-of-hours support, taking ownership of issues within your domain
About you...
- C# and ASP.NET with strong, hands-on production experience
- React (or similar modern front-end framework)
- Azure application services in a production environment
- SQL Server, including performance tuning and diagnostics
- REST APIs and third-party integrations (e.g. Salesforce)
- Modern engineering practices including testing, CI/CD, and automation
- Writes and reviews production code regularly
- Brings strong technical judgement and a high bar for quality
- Has experience mentoring or leading developers in a team environment
- Takes pride in developing others, as well as delivering great software
We're looking for someone who’s truly hands-on - actively writing production code day to day, not just drawing on past experience. You’ll have a strong track record of mentoring or leading engineers, paired with excellent technical judgement, high standards for code quality, and the ability to raise the bar across a team. Previous line management experience is a strong advantage. If you’ve already managed direct reports, you’ll be able to make an immediate impact. If not, you should be ready to.
