Responsibilities

  • Manage the day‑to‑day running of the home, ensuring that children and staff are sufficiently safeguarded.
  • Co‑ordinate and develop quality therapeutic services for young people residing at the home.
  • Ensure compliance with the Children’s Home Regulations 2015 and all relevant legislation.
  • Promote relationships as central to working practice, engaging empathetically with young people, families, professionals, and agencies.
  • Provide effective, empathetic, and dynamic leadership to the staff team.
  • Facilitate team development, supervise and mentor staff, and promote a culture of reflective practice.
  • Implement the company’s wellness and wellbeing programmes, ensuring staff have access to support.
  • Develop and maintain efficient staff rota, ensuring appropriate coverage for out‑of‑hours and emergency situations.
  • Ensure all statutory paperwork and documentation reflects therapeutic practice.
  • Organise robust therapeutic training and induction for all staff.
  • Engage in recruitment, grievance, disciplinary, and other staffing matters with operational support.
  • Maintain health and safety standards, including fire safety, medication handling, and vehicle use.
  • Prepare and manage financial budgets, control, and record keeping in line with company procedures.
  • Promote and implement policies and procedures that are attachment‑based and trauma‑informed.

Qualifications & Experience

  • Minimum of two years’ experience in residential children’s social care, ideally as deputy or senior staff.
  • Strong leadership and communication skills, with a nurturing and supportive approach.
  • Level 3 NVQ diploma in Residential Childcare/Health and Social Care (or equivalent); or Level 5 NVQ within two years.
  • One year experience in a management/supervisory role.
  • Willingness and ability to pass an Ofsted Fit Person Interview.
  • UK driving licence.
  • Knowledge of The Children’s Home Regulations and related legislation.
  • DBS clearance and positive references from all relevant positions.
  • Confidence and strength of character to handle challenging situations with appropriate boundaries.
