A Surrey based social housing provider is looking for an experienced Income Officer to join their team on an initial 3-month contract with an immediate start available. This is an excellent opportunity to manage your own patch, take ownership of rent arrears cases and make a real impact on income collection and tenancy sustainment.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage a caseload of rent arrears accounts from early intervention through to legal action
- Negotiate affordable repayment arrangements with tenants and support them in sustaining their tenancies
- Conduct home visits, telephone interviews and correspondence with residents
- Provide advice on welfare benefits, Universal Credit and income maximisation
- Prepare legal documentation for court proceedings and attend hearings where required
- Work closely with internal teams and external agencies to support vulnerable residents
- Maintain accurate case records and ensure compliance with policies and procedures
- Deliver a high-quality customer-focused service whilst meeting collection targets
Essential Experience
- Previous experience working as an Income Officer, Rent Recovery Officer or similar within social housing
- Strong knowledge of rent arrears recovery and tenancy management
- Experience dealing with Universal Credit, Housing Benefit and welfare reform
- Ability to manage legal action relating to rent arrears and possession proceedings
- Excellent communication, negotiation and customer service skills
- Experience managing a busy caseload and prioritising workloads effectively
