I am working with a Local Authority in the Gloucestershire area who are seeking an experienced Principal Planning Strategy Officer to provide support to their Planning Strategy team on an interim basis. This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced planning policy professional to play a key role in the development of the Local Plan, evidence base preparation and strategic planning projects across the district.
The Role:
- Lead on planning strategy plans and projects, including surveys, public consultation exercises and stakeholder engagement
- Develop and maintain a robust evidence base to support planning policies and strategies
- Collect, analyse and present planning data to inform policy development
- Prepare evidence and represent the Council at examinations, inquiries, appeals, public meetings and exhibitions
- Provide planning policy advice on planning applications and pre-applications
- Liaise with internal departments, statutory consultees, Parish and Town Councils and other external bodies
- Respond to complex planning policy enquiries and complaints
- Support and mentor junior members of the team
- Undertake line management responsibilities and 1-to-1s as required
Contract Details:
- Duration: 6 month contract initially

- Hours: 37 hours per week

- Requirement: Recent Local Authority Planning Policy experience is essential. The council requires an experienced officer who can lead policy projects, represent the authority at public forums and hit the ground running with minimal supervision.
