A Surrey Planning authority are seeking an Interim Planning Policy Manager to lead the preparation and delivery of their new Local Plan. This is a critical role that requires someone with strategic vision, leadership experience, and a hands-on approach to planning policy.
Key Responsibilities:
Take ownership of the Local Plan process, steering it through key stages including evidence base preparation, public consultation, and examination.
Lead and manage a small, experienced policy team.
Engage effectively with elected members, senior leadership, key stakeholders, and neighbouring authorities.
Ensure the plan aligns with the council\’s growth objectives, national planning policy, and local priorities.
Provide expert guidance and strategic advice on complex policy issues, including housing need, sustainability, and infrastructure delivery.
About You:
Proven track record of delivering Local Plans within a local authority context.
Strong leadership and project management skills.
Excellent knowledge of planning legislation, policy, and procedures.
Comfortable operating at a senior level and liaising with Members and Executive teams.
Able to hit the ground running and work independently with minimal supervision.
