I am currently working with a Local Authority in the Leicestershire area that is seeking an experienced Senior Planning Officer on an initial 12-month contract. This role will provide immediate support to the wider planning service, maintain performance and support colleagues, having a positive direct impact on the local community.
The ideal candidate would have at least 3 years of recent experience working at a local council, so would be able to go in and hit the ground running. More specific experience that is required would be to have dealt with a range of applications, including Complex Minor applications to small-scale Major applications (the majority being residential).
The role:
- Provide support on a variety of planning applications, from complex minors through to small-scale majors.
- Provide professional input to strengthen decision-making and support the smooth running of the planning service.
- Undertake site visits across urban and rural areas, working collaboratively with stakeholders to resolve planning issues.
- Work closely with internal teams and external partners to ensure effective and timely delivery of planning projects.
Contract details: 12 months initially, with potential for extension. £40 - £46 per hour (flexible for the right candidate). Full-time working. Predominantly remote, with occasional office attendance and site visits.
