We're supporting a local authority with an urgent and key hire into their procurement team. This role focuses on delivering construction and capital programmes within a highly regulated environment.
They’re looking for someone with recent local authority experience in construction procurement who can manage the full procurement lifecycle. This is a hands-on role where you’ll be balancing delivery, stakeholder engagement, and governance.
You’ll oversee large programmes of work, advise internal stakeholders, and ensure procurement activity is compliant and aligned with current legislation, including commissioning under the new Procurement Act.
This is a senior role with line management responsibility for a team of 6 Procurement Officers, plus a Legal Officer. You’ll need to be comfortable leading a team, managing suppliers, and working through complex governance structures.
What they’re looking for:
- Strong local authority procurement experience, specifically in construction or capital works
- Experience managing teams and engaging with suppliers
- Ability to track and deliver large, complex programmes
- MCIPS qualified or working towards it (or similar, such as TPP)
- Confident advising stakeholders and navigating governance
- Good understanding of commissioning and current procurement legislation
- Experience using e-tendering portals and managing end-to-end procurement
Key details:
- £600 to £650 per day (umbrella)
- Hybrid working, 2 to 3 days onsite
