Senior Environmental Health Officer Hertfordshire £50-£55 an hour 6-Month Contract A Council in Hertfordshire are looking for an experienced Senior Environmental Health Officer to join their team on a 6-month initial contract, paying £50-£55 an hour. This is a varied role with a strong focus on Private Sector Housing, giving you the opportunity to lead on housing enforcement, licensing, and complex casework while supporting the wider service.

Key Responsibilities:

Conduct HHSRS inspections and investigate complaints. Lead housing enforcement, including notices, civil penalties, and prosecutions. Manage HMO Licensing applications, inspections, and compliance. Support the Council's wider Licensing schemes. Act as a consultee on planning and licensing applications. Mentor junior officers and provide technical guidance. Prepare reports, notices, and legal documentation. Support the wider service as required.

About you:

The ideal candidate will bring: Experience working in Local Government. Strong knowledge of Private Sector Housing, HHSRS, and the Housing Act 2004. A recognised Environmental Health Degree/Qualification. Experience delivering enforcement and regulatory action. A background in HMO Licensing and compliance inspections. Confidence managing complex casework independently alongside supporting/mentoring junior colleagues. Experience preparing notices, reports, and legal documentation.
