I am looking for an experienced Stores Operative to join a busy Housing Repairs team.
You will support the day-to-day running of the stores, ensuring materials, tools and plant are received, checked, stored and issued correctly.
The role will involve maintaining accurate stock records, processing associated paperwork, updating computer systems and helping ensure operatives have the materials required to deliver an efficient repairs service.
Key responsibilities
Receive, unload and inspect incoming materials and equipment.
Store stock safely and maintain clear, organised storage areas.
Issue and receive materials, tools and plant.
Use a forklift to move stock and load materials.
Update stock systems, paperwork and delivery records accurately.
Carry out rolling stock checks and support annual stocktakes.
Monitor stock levels and report shortages or damaged items.
Ensure plant registers and testing records remain up to date.
Maintain a safe, secure and tidy working environment.
Provide a professional service to operatives, contractors and suppliers.
Essential requirements
Previous experience working within a busy stores or warehouse environment.
A valid Forklift Truck licence.
Good IT skills and the ability to maintain accurate electronic records.
Strong attention to detail and organisational skills.
Good communication and customer service skills.
Ability to work independently, use initiative and contribute to a small team.
A positive, reliable and safety-conscious approach.
Knowledge of building or plumbing materials and previous experience within housing repairs would be advantageous.
