A Council in Essex are looking for an experienced housing professional to join their Environmental Health team and help deliver a vital frontline service, supporting residents and improving housing standards across the community.

As the Interim Private Sector Housing Officer, you ll play a key role in ensuring residents have access to safe, healthy and well-managed homes.

Working as part of a supportive Environmental Health team, you ll help deliver a responsive housing service at a time of increased demand following the introduction of the Renters Rights Act.

Responsibilities: * Investigating housing complaints and carrying out inspections under the Housing Health and Safety Rating System (HHSRS). * Taking appropriate enforcement action to improve housing standards, including informal and formal interventions where necessary. * Responding to requests for assistance from tenants, landlords and other stakeholders. * Supporting the delivery of the Council s statutory housing functions, ensuring legislation and professional standards are met. * Working collaboratively with internal teams and external partners to protect residents and improve housing conditions across the district.
