We are currently partnering with a proactive Local Authority in Kent to appoint an experienced Private Sector Housing Officer on an initial 6-month contract. This is a fantastic opportunity to join a busy and forward-thinking team, where you will play a key role in improving housing standards across the borough.

The Role

  • Manage a varied caseload within the Private Rented Sector, taking responsibility for enforcement and regulatory activity, including:
  • Carrying out HHSRS inspections and property assessments
  • Investigating housing complaints and disrepair cases
  • Processing and enforcing HMO licensing applications
  • Drafting and serving statutory notices
  • Issuing Civil Penalties in line with current legislation
  • Liaising with landlords, tenants, and internal stakeholders
  • Preparing case files for tribunal or court proceedings

About You

  • Proven experience working within Private Sector Housing in a Local Authority setting
  • Strong knowledge of the Housing Act 2004 and HHSRS
  • Experience with HMO Licensing and enforcement activity
  • Ability to manage your own caseload independently
  • Excellent communication and organisational skills

Contract Details

  • Rate: £50 per hour
  • Contract Length: Initial 6 months (with potential for extension)
  • Working Pattern: Hybrid (typically 2-3 days onsite)
  • Start: ASAP
