Park Avenue Recruitment are working with a Local Authority in Surrey that is looking for an experienced Private Sector Housing Officer to join their team on an initial 6-month interim contract.
This is a great opportunity for an experienced PSH professional looking to join an extremely collaborative and supportive team, with a varied caseload covering HHSRS, HMO licensing and general Private Sector Housing duties.
The role could particularly appeal to officers currently working within busy London Boroughs who are looking for a change of environment, while still maintaining a strong and varied enforcement caseload.
Responsibilities
- Carry out HHSRS inspections across privately rented properties.
- Investigate complaints relating to housing conditions, hazards and disrepair.
- Carry out disrepair inspections and determine appropriate remedial or enforcement action.
- Undertake HMO inspections and licensing work.
- Identify and assess Category 1 and Category 2 hazards.
- Manage general Private Sector Housing enforcement cases from inspection through to resolution.
- Prepare and serve statutory notices where required.
- Handle complaints from tenants, landlords and other relevant parties.
- Undertake Public Health Act burials as and when required.
- Provide advice and guidance to landlords, tenants and other stakeholders.
- Maintain accurate case records, inspection notes and enforcement documentation.
- Work closely with colleagues across a highly collaborative Housing and Environmental Health team.
