I am working with a Local Authority in the Gloucestershire who are seeking an experienced Development Management Team Manager / Team Leader to provide additional leadership capacity within their Planning Service following an unsuccessful permanent recruitment campaign. This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced Development Management professional to support a busy team, mentor officers and provide operational oversight during a period of transition.
The Role:
As a Development Management Team Manager, you will:
- Provide visible, supportive day-to-day leadership to the Development Management team
- Hold regular one-to-ones, caseload reviews and performance discussions with officers
- Support team members in managing workloads, priorities and application timescales
- Monitor team capacity, performance and operational pressures, escalating issues where necessary
- Provide professional guidance on complex, sensitive and high-risk planning applications
- Act as an escalation point for officers on challenging cases
- Support the Head of Planning Services with staffing, performance and operational matters
- Attend Planning Committee meetings, site inspection briefings and other key meetings as required
- Drive service delivery and maintain performance across the team
Contract Details:
- Duration: Initial 6-month contract
- Rate: Β£60 per hour
- Working Arrangement: Hybrid working with a minimum of 2 days per week onsite
- Start Date: ASAP

- Requirement: Extensive Local Authority Development Management experience is essential, alongside proven experience managing planning officers, conducting performance reviews and overseeing workloads. Candidates must be able to attend the office two days per week and support Planning Committee requirements when needed.
