A Sussex Council is looking for an experienced Tenancy Relations Officer to join their Private Sector Housing service on an initial 3-month contract.

You'll be responsible for investigating and responding to tenancy-related issues, including:

  • Unlawful evictions, threatened lockouts, utility disconnections and landlord harassment
  • Intervening quickly to prevent unlawful action and advising landlords and tenants on their rights and responsibilities
  • Mediating complex and sensitive disputes to help tenants remain safely in their homes
  • Gathering evidence, taking witness statements and interviewing suspects under caution
  • Preparing case files to support prosecutions, civil penalties and other enforcement action
  • Advising on tenancy agreements, deposit protection, repairs and lawful possession procedures

They're looking for someone who is HHSRS qualified, has a strong Private Sector Housing background and can demonstrate solid housing enforcement experience.
