Are you an experienced Environmental Health Officer looking for your next interim contract within Local Government? A Kent-based Local Authority is seeking an experienced Environmental Health Officer to join its busy and supportive Environmental Health team on an initial 6-month contract.
The Role: As an Environmental Health Officer, you'll manage a varied caseload across the Private Rented Sector, focusing on housing standards, enforcement, and regulatory compliance. Key responsibilities will include:
- Carrying out HHSRS inspections and property investigations
- Assessing Category 1 and Category 2 hazards under the Housing Health and Safety Rating System
- Serving statutory notices and undertaking enforcement action under the Housing Act 2004
- Preparing and issuing Civil Penalty Notices (CPNs)
- Investigating housing complaints, disrepair cases, and poor housing conditions
- Liaising with landlords, tenants, legal teams, and external agencies
- Preparing detailed inspection reports and evidence packs
- Supporting wider Environmental Health and Housing Enforcement functions
