Regional Account Manager – Soft Services

We’re looking for an experienced Regional Account Manager to take responsibility for a portfolio of client contracts, ensuring consistently high standards of service delivery across multiple sites.

This is a varied, hands-on operational leadership role with responsibility for people, clients, service delivery, compliance and commercial performance. You’ll manage and support Account Managers across your region while maintaining strong relationships with clients and ensuring each contract operates safely, efficiently and in line with agreed service levels.

We’re particularly interested in people with experience within soft services, ideally cleaning or specialist cleaning, who are comfortable managing multiple client accounts and dispersed operational teams.

What you'll be doing

You’ll take overall responsibility for the day-to-day performance of your allocated contracts, acting as a key point of contact for both clients and operational teams.

You’ll manage and support Account Managers across the region, providing guidance on operational and people matters including recruitment, absence, performance, payroll queries and employee relations.

Your responsibilities will also include:

  • Managing the operational and financial performance of your portfolio, including budgets and P&L

  • Building strong relationships with clients and ensuring contractual requirements and service standards are consistently achieved

  • Managing and developing Account Managers and operational teams across multiple locations

  • Ensuring appropriate holiday and sickness cover is in place to maintain uninterrupted service delivery

  • Overseeing recruitment, onboarding, leavers and other people processes

  • Carrying out regular site visits and monthly audits, agreeing actions and improvements with operational teams

  • Ensuring teams have the equipment, uniforms and consumables required to deliver their services effectively

  • Coordinating planned maintenance activities and specialist subcontractors where required

  • Managing purchase orders, client POs, recharges and information required for monthly invoicing

  • Monitoring outstanding invoices and supporting the management of aged debt

  • Ensuring site compliance documentation including RAMS, SSOW and COSHH information is accurate and up to date

  • Supporting Health & Safety across the region, including toolbox talks, training and appropriate reporting of accidents, incidents and near misses

  • Supporting the mobilisation of new contracts, including TUPE consultation and integration of incoming teams

  • Coordinating vehicles, equipment, maintenance and PAT requirements across the region

  • Identifying opportunities to improve service delivery, efficiency and the client experience

What we're looking for

You’ll already have experience managing operational services and people within a client-focused environment.

Experience within soft services is important for this position, with cleaning or specialist cleaning experience particularly desirable. Previous responsibility for multiple client sites or contracts would be a significant advantage.

You’ll also need:

  • IOSH qualification as a minimum

  • Good practical knowledge of workplace Health & Safety

  • Experience managing and developing operational teams

  • Strong client and stakeholder management skills

  • Commercial awareness, ideally including experience of budgets, P&L, POs and invoicing

  • Confidence managing multiple sites, priorities and client requirements simultaneously

  • Good IT skills, including Microsoft Office

  • Strong organisational and problem-solving skills

  • A practical, flexible approach and willingness to be visible across your contracts

Experience of contract mobilisation and TUPE would also be beneficial.

About you

You’ll be comfortable taking ownership of your region rather than waiting to be told what needs doing. You’ll know how to balance the needs of clients, employees and the commercial requirements of the contracts you manage.

Just as importantly, you’ll be a visible and supportive manager. Whether you’re discussing service performance with a client, helping an Account Manager resolve an operational issue, reviewing standards on site or supporting the mobilisation of a new contract, you’ll be confident adapting to what the situation requires.

If you have experience managing multi-site soft services contracts and enjoy combining operational leadership with client and commercial responsibility, we’d love to hear from you.

One thing I'd want to add before posting is the location/region, salary, working hours and travel/car arrangement. For a Regional Account Manager advert those will make a big difference to the quality of applications, particularly because candidates will want to know exactly how much travelling they're taking on.
