Schjødt is one of the leading business law firms in the Nordics, with offices in London, Stockholm, Oslo, Stavanger, Bergen, Ålesund, and Copenhagen. We operate as one integrated firm across borders, offering seamless legal services to our clients. Our culture is collaborative, high-performing, and client-focused - and we take pride in delivering top-tier legal advice in complex and high-value matters.

About the Role

We are currently looking to recruit a junior to mid-level associate (1–4 years PQE) to join our London office, working across matters related to both shipping and litigation. In this role, you will be involved in a wide variety of contentious work, including disputes under charterparties, bills of lading, shipbuilding contracts, and other commercial agreements, alongside broader litigation and arbitration mandates. Much of the work has an international aspect, and you will engage with complex cross-border disputes across jurisdictions and sectors. You will be working closely with lawyers who are specialised in both shipping law and commercial dispute resolution. The work is collaborative across practice areas, allowing for broad exposure and a diverse range of experience.

What We Are Looking For

  • 1–4 years of post-qualification experience (PQE) in litigation, ideally including shipping or international trade disputes.
  • Qualification in England & Wales (or a comparable common law jurisdiction).
  • Excellent academic credentials and strong legal drafting skills.
  • A proactive and commercially-minded approach.
  • The ability to work both independently and within cross-functional teams in a fast-paced environment.

Why Join Us?

At Schjødt, you’ll join an ambitious and international team with high-quality mandates and early exposure to client work. We offer a steep learning curve, a collaborative and supportive culture, and the opportunity to work at the forefront of legal developments in shipping and commercial disputes. We pride ourselves on being a professional yet down-to-earth workplace where people enjoy coming to work.

We warmly welcome your application, including a cover letter, CV, academic transcripts, and any relevant references or certificates.
